Issue Symptoms: None

Technical Details

Service Type: Production

Server Name:

Update: Completed without problems.

What the service is: The NTP service keeps clocks synchronized across most if not all campus hosts. Clock synchronization is required to keep Active Directory and kerberos services working.

We have recently discovered configuration issues on our NTP servers that, with some additional failures, would cause the master time hosts on campus to begin to drift from the correct time. This weekend between Sat 11:00PM and Sunday 03:00PM we will be updating the configuration of the ntp servers to correct these issues. Because the NTP service is doubly-redundant, there should be no outage and no visible problem for any campus hosts. The upgrade process consists of correcting one NTP server (host), verifying that ntp still works for general NTP use on that host, then repeating the process for the other two hosts.

This work will start at 11:00 PM Saturday June 17, 2017 and will conclude by 03:00 AM Sunday June 18, 2017.
