Vendor analysis of the performance problems with MiStorage CIFS network drives which manifested as a long time in opening shares, a long time listing contents of directories, and a long time to open and save files was that the storage cluster was suffering from exclusive locks when it took snapshots in order to replicate to the disaster recovery side. Vendor recommended a setting change to make the locks no longer exclusive.

Although ITS Storage performance has improved we are still seeing some sporadic periods of slowness and access problems.

ITS Storage continues to actively monitor performance metrics and work with the vendor to identify the root cause of the performance issues.

We are still seeing intermittent periods of slowness on the Isilon based CIFS shares. ITS Storage will be actively reviewing performance metrics and continue working with our vendor to pin-point the cause. The best way to work around this issue is to copy the files you are working on down to your computer in a temporary folder. Upload the files back to the share when you are finished.
