Issue Symptoms: Outage

There will be a MiStorage emergency outage on Sunday, Oct 8 from 4 a.m. until 7 a.m. so we can apply a patch intended to improve system performance.

During the outage customers will see:
-NFS connections will be unavailable for up to 10 minutes.
-SMB connections will be unavailable for up to two hours.

After the maintenance, client systems should automatically reconnect to their storage. In case of problems, rebooting the client machine will solve them.

The patch is expected to decrease the time the storage system spends on internal authentication operations, significantly improving the time to connect to a share. We also expect a decrease in overall system load, which should further improve response time.

A patch is being applied to the MiStorage Isilon that is expected to improve performance. This will result in an outage for both NFS and SMB connections.
