Issue Symptoms: Intermittent issues

Some users trying to print to the printers on the impacted servers may see the print queues on their computer show as "offline" during the maintenance window, though no impact is expected.

If printing during the window is an urgent need, users may try rebooting their machine to bring the printers back online. Users may also print to their desired printer with the install-free web application mprint.umich.edu.

Comments:

Printers showing as "offline" is due to a DNS change we will make, to point print traffic from our old servers to their updated servers. The DNS change may take up to 30 minutes to propagate, but there should be no impact for most users.

2/24: Maintenance took longer than expected due to issues upon installing a printer after DNS changes for some servers. Deleting and re-adding the registry key "DnsOnWire" coupled with Print Spooler restarts remedied the issue for one server.

The following servers will be re-scheduled for a later date:
buickst.miprint.it.umich.edu
cadillacst.miprint.it.umich.edu
lyonst.miprint.it.umich.edu

All other servers are functioning as expected.
