PROJECT INFORMATION
To enhance the online experience for users of Microsoft 365, including the Office 365 online suite of applications, ITS will move accounts from U-M’s current Microsoft 365 platform to a new one. During the move, there will be an interruption in access to Microsoft 365. Users will not be able to log in at portal.office.com to use the online versions of Office applications. Microsoft Office applications that are installed on a local device will not be affected, although access to files stored in OneDrive will be interrupted.

Office 365 services will be unavailable from Friday, June 28th at 5:00 PM to Monday, July 1st at 8:00 AM.

We do not recommend logging in to or using any Office 365 services during this window.

Once the move is complete, the login process will be different. Users can still log in via portal.office.com. However, the login process for Microsoft tools and applications within the UMICH domain will change from U-M Weblogin to Microsoft’s login service. With the new login method, UMICH (Level 1) passwords will be securely synced to Microsoft so users will not have to create or use a new, separate password for Microsoft services.

SharePoint Online/Teams migration also continues to make progress. However, due to limitations with the migration tool, estimated time to completion is unknown. We will provide our next update on Friday, July 12th.
