Scheduled Maintenance — Resolved

WiFi Controller Software Update

Services Affected: In-building Networks, Internet, WiFi Controller Software Update

Start Time: 12/26/2019 10:00 pm

Maintenance Completed: 12/27/2019 3:30 am

Issue Symptoms: Outage

On the night of December 26, 2019, and possibly on the night of December 27, 2019, network staff from Information and Technology Services (ITS) will be updating the software that controls campus wireless access points (i.e., WiFi hardware). We will attempt to complete all work during the first maintenance window (December 26), but due to the large number of devices we support on the Ann Arbor campus, may need to complete work during the second maintenance window on December 27.

This maintenance will be performed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. on the aforementioned evenings, and connections to MWireless, eduroam, MGuest, and MSetup will be unavailable during the scheduled maintenance. This work is expected to take about 60 minutes for each building, but could take longer for updates to propagate. This is a rolling upgrade; therefore, access points will likely experience one or more outages approximately 10 minutes in length.

Please watch the ITS Service Status Page for notification if we need to complete work during the second maintenance window.
