Scheduled Maintenance — Resolved

MiStorage patching

Services Affected: MiStorage CIFS, MiStorage NFS

Start Time: 10/17/2020 11:00 pm

Maintenance Completed: 10/18/2020 6:57 am

Issue Symptoms: Intermittent issues

  • What we are doing: Applying patch 8.1.2.0_KDA-CUSTOM_2020-09_PSP-26 to macc-its cluster which requires rolling node reboots
  • Why we are doing this: Isilon cluster macc-its is running a version of the OS vulnerable to a memory leak in rpcbind which manifests in multiple problems when memory is exhausted. EMC has provided patch 8.1.2.0_KDA-CUSTOM_2020-09_PSP-265 to address this. Turbo clusters and the asb-its disaster recovery cluster are all running version of the OS that are not vulnerable to the problem so do not need this patch. Upgrading OS of macc-its cannot occur until cloud smartlink conversion completes on disaster recovery cluster.
  • Who will be impacted: Users of MiStorage NFS and CIFS may notice momentary disconnects and reconnects during upgrade window depending upon what node they are on and whether or not it needs a reboot.
  • Who will not be impacted: Turbo uses similar hardware but does not need this patch.

Who is Impacted? Students, Faculty, Staff, any user of MiStorage
