Data Refresh Delay — Resolved

Student Explorer weekly data refresh delay and irregularity

Services Affected: Student Explorer

Start Time: 10/25/2020 5:30 pm

Data Refreshed: 10/27/2020 11:30 pm

Issue Symptoms: Outdated

UPDATE 10/28 9:40 AM: The Student Explorer dataset has been successfully refreshed as described below.

The Student Explorer dataset contains some data that is refreshed weekly in order to produce the visualizations in the Student Explorer application that demonstrate week-by-week comparisons for students in each of their classes. This refresh process normally happens on Sunday afternoons. The refresh did not occur as scheduled on Sunday, October 25 due to continuing issues recovering from the CTools data dependency issue experienced last week.

ITS is working to refresh the weekly data. The refresh is expected to complete late on Tuesday, October 27. In the interim, users of the Student Explorer application and dataset will not see weekly values for week 8 until the refresh is completed. Once the refresh is completed, week 8 will show data from Sunday, October 18 through Tuesday, October 27 rather than the usual Sunday to Sunday timeframe.

Who is Impacted? Users of the Student Explorer application and dataset

Next Update: Wednesday, October 28, 9:00 AM

Technical Details

Service Type: Production

Comments:

The Student Explorer weekly ETL process (data refresh) was run manually on Tuesday and was successful. It failed to run as usual on Sunday after restoration of the CT_ARC1 schema last week had missing transactions. The data first had to be restored on Monday which is why the ETL was not re-run until Tuesday.
