Issue Symptoms: Intermittent issues

AFS servers will be briefly unavailable (1-5 minutes) during the reboot portion of the OS patching managed by ITS System Support UNIX. Upgrade are staggered so not all servers will be unavailable at the same time.

  • What we are doing: ITS System Support UNIX team is running production patching on all production Linux hosts which includes the AFS fileservers.
  • Why we are doing this: Regular patching is important for security.
  • Who will be impacted: Users of AFS will lose access to their volumes during some of this window. This includes user and group volumes. Many web sites are hosted from AFS.
  • Who will not be impacted: Web sites hosted without AFS will not be affected.

Who is Impacted? Users of AFS which includes some web pages, some home directories, some shared course content
