Services Affected: Remote Office Hours Queue, Zoom

Start Time: 07/29/2021 4:51 pm

Service Restored: 08/03/2021 6:32 am

Issue Symptoms: Degradation

UPDATE 8/3 6:30 AM:

The fix has been released and the issue has been resolved. All users may now authorize the app without errors.

UPDATE 7/30 2:25 PM:

A fix is planned for this issue on Tuesday, August 3 at 6:30 AM. If you are experiencing this issue and cannot wait to authorize the app until Tuesday, please follow the workaround instructions below.

ORIGINAL:

Hosts of queues in Remote Office Hours Queue ("ROHQ") where the queue allows the Zoom meeting type but the host has not previously authorized the Zoom integration are currently unable to authorize the integration. Hosts who have previously authorized the integration are not impacted and are able to continue to use ROHQ as normal.

Hosts impacted by the error are seeing an "Invalid scopes" error in the Zoom App Marketplace when clicking the button in ROHQ to Authorize the Zoom integration.

As a temporary workaround, if unable to wait for a fix to be deployed, hosts may follow these steps in order to install the integration:

  1. Click the Authorize button in ROHQ to authorize the integration to view the page that shows the "Invalid scopes" error
  2. Click into the address bar of the browser
  3. Delete the following text from the URL, leaving everything else as is: scope=meeting:read%20meeting:write&
  4. Hit the Enter key
  5. You should now be able to proceed with installation as discussed in the support article

If you are having difficulty editing the URL, try following these steps in order to complete step 3 above:

  1. Select the entire URL (CTRL+A on Windows, CMD+A on Mac)
  2. Copy the URL (CTRL+C on Windows, CMD+C on Mac)
  3. Open a new Microsoft Word or Google Doc document
  4. Paste the URL into the document (CTRL+P on Windows, CMD+P on Mac)
  5. Open the Find and Replace tool (CTRL+H on Windows, CMD+SHIFT+H on Mac)
  6. Paste the following text (no spaces on either side) into the first field: scope=meeting:read%20meeting:write&
  7. Leave the second field empty
  8. Click Replace
  9. Select the entire URL from the Word or Google Doc (CTRL+A on Windows, CMD+A on Mac)
  10. Copy the URL (CTRL+C on Windows, CMD+C on Mac)
  11. Open a new tab or window in your browser
  12. Paste the URL into the address bar (CTRL+P on Windows, CMD+P on Mac)
  13. Hit the Enter key
  14. You should now be able to proceed with installation as discussed in the support article

Who is Impacted? Hosts of queues in Remote Office Hours Queue who have not previously authorized the Zoom integration, and are now attempting to do so

Next Update: Tuesday, August 3, 7:00 AM

Technical Details

Service Type: Production

Comments:

This error was caused by the unannounced removal of the ability to define scopes in the request URL by Zoom.

To fix this, ROHQ released an update that removed the scopes from the constructed request URL. This fix was released on Tuesday, August 3, 6:30 AM.
